Quick Start Rules
(to a German Edition Players Will Love)
Step 1: Get in touch
Provide me with all the data needed for your translation, including the board game’s texts and rules (in an editable format), components and box.
Step 2: Receive a quote
I will get back to you swiftly with a detailed quote to give you an idea of the project cost and timeline. We’ll also discuss your preferred format for the translation (typically a bilingual Google Document file with the English text on the left side and German translation on the right side), as well as any personal wishes you may have.
Step 3: The go-ahead
If you’re happy with the quote, we can proceed with the translation.
Step 4: The translation
After familiarising myself with your game, I will begin to craft your translation.
Step 5: Stay available!
If questions pop up while translating, I’ll reach out to you and ask for clarification to certify the rules, examples and graphics are correct. Please stay available for any questions I have to ask.
Step 6: Copy editing and proofreading
Once I’ve completed the first draft of the translation, I will send it to a trusted fellow board game translator for copy editing and proofreading. A second pair of eyes always ensures 100% accuracy.
Step 7: Receive your translation
After reviewing and implementing the copy editor’s comments and suggestions, I will polish and finalise the translation before sending it to you.
Step 8: Final review
Ask your graphic designer to transfer the translation text into your layout. Then send me the exported PDFs so that I can do the final check and comment on any mistakes to ensure a flawless translation.
Step 9: Completed!
The German version of your board game is ready to hit German gaming tables!
